Summary

Playboy engaged me as Fractional Head of TikTok during a transitional period to stabilize and strengthen the brand's presence on one of the world's most restrictive social platforms. Persistent content flags were limiting organic reach, while the creative team needed clearer direction to consistently produce content that aligned with both campaign themes and platform policies.

Over the course of the engagement, I established creative governance systems, introduced standardized content guidelines, implemented performance review processes, and aligned creators around a unified content strategy. By combining Playboy's cultural legacy with platform-conscious creative execution, the channel evolved into a stronger editorial presence while creating a sustainable framework for the internal team that assumed ownership following my engagement.

The Execution

For legacy brands, the greatest opportunity on emerging platforms is rarely producing more content... it's producing more intentional content.

Playboy's cultural significance extends far beyond its products, yet social media often rewards brands for reducing themselves to short-term trends. Rather than relying solely on provocative imagery or reactive content, the opportunity was to reintroduce audiences to Playboy as a cultural institution with decades of influence across fashion, entertainment, journalism, and design.

At the same time, TikTok's moderation policies required every creative decision to balance brand expression with platform compliance. Success depended not on avoiding restrictions altogether, but on building creative systems that allowed the brand to remain recognizable while consistently operating within evolving platform guidelines.

This work reinforced that sustainable channel growth begins with creative governance. When teams share clear standards, thoughtful editorial direction, and repeatable workflows, content becomes more consistent, more resilient, and ultimately more effective.

The Results

Success in this engagement was measured less by short-term performance metrics than by the strength of the operational foundation left behind. Over the course of the project, I established creative standards, editorial workflows, and reporting processes that enabled more consistent content production and stronger collaboration across Playboy, Creatorly, and external creators. By pairing those operational improvements with a storytelling approach rooted in Playboy's cultural history, the channel emerged with a more cohesive editorial identity and a scalable framework capable of supporting future growth under the internal team that assumed ownership following my engagement.
